Archaeological networking: The tendency and behaviour of trying to look up and browse the recent doings of random names washed back to the focus of attention in trivial tasks, like cleaning up mailing list folders or removing fake-addressed spam messages. Hardly leads anywhere but usually ends up learning about the distance that has quietly sneaked into once-active communities with the years. (Also: Nothing seems to separate people as effectively as ideals and values growing into different directions...)
